WASHINGTON – 40 million Americans received food stamps — the latest in an ever-higher string of record enrollment that dates from December 2008 and the U.S. recession, according to a government update.
Food stamps are the primary federal anti-hunger program, helping poor people buy food. Enrollment is highest during times of economic distress. The jobless rate is 22 percent, Friday.
The Agriculture Department said 39.68 million people, or 1 in 8 Americans, were enrolled for food stamps during February, an increase of 260,000 from January. USDA updated its figures on Wednesday.
“This is the highest share of the U.S. population on SNAP/food stamps,” said the anti-hunger group Food Research and Action Center, using the new name for food stamps, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). “Research suggests that one in three eligible people are not receiving … benefits.”
Enrollment has set a record each month since reaching 31.78 million in December 2008. USDA estimates enrollment will average 40.5 million people this fiscal year, which ends Sept 30, at a cost of up to $59 billion. For fiscal 2011, average enrollment is forecast for 43.3 million people.
The unemployment rate that is released by the BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics), propped by media and socialist politicians is the narrowly focused 30 Day ~ U3 rate, which stands at 9.8 percent for December 2010. The U3 rate is the best sounding scenario when it comes to reporting unemployment to America because it doesn’t include workers (over 30 days who cannot find work) and the underemployed (those that are working part-time, but cannot find full-time work anymore). Note that part-time workers counted as employed by U-3, could be working as little as an hour a week to help bolster the U3 for the media.
When workers can no longer find employment and or have become underemployed outside the 30 day period, you end up with the 4 Month ~ U6 rate, or the “REAL” unemployment rate. For December, that rate increased from 16.7 to 17.1 percent.

The Mirage Is Over – Sanders Sells Out – Not Walking Tall! : Allows Rothschild Outside ‘British’ Government To Dictate Attempted Financial Takeover Of The United States.
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) vigorously defended a corporatist compromise stuck Thursday altering his proposed amendment on auditing the Federal Reserve, calling the current language “unprecedented and historic” even in the face of critique that he had “sold out.”
Speaking with reporters Friday afternoon, Sanders faced a series of questions on the last-minute changes to his provision, which came under intense pressure from the White House and top Democrats working on the pending financial regulatory reform bill. Late Thursday night, Rep. Ron Paul (R-Tex.) went so far to say that Sanders had “sold out” and that the new amendment “adds nothing” in terms of oversight.
“What I want is in this amendment, all right?” Sanders said with a hint of frustration. “Would I like to go further, sure? Would I like an ongoing investigation ordered of the Fed? Sure, I would. But 99 percent of the American people, they’re interested in what’s happened since the financial crisis—and that’s in the amendment.”
Sanders spoke on the phone Friday morning with both Paul and Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.), who were the two champions of an ‘Audit the Fed‘ provision in the House. The senator from Vermont said the focus of the talks was on the mutually acknowledged goal of getting the Senate language passed and then taking the strongest parts of the House and Senate legislation and incorporating those pieces into the final bill.
As for the charges leveled by Paul—as well as by the progressive blogosphere—that Sanders compromised too much, the senator expressed personal disappointment with Paul before dismissing the charges as misguided.
“I was disappointed, frankly, in what Ron said because I like Ron. He and I worked on a number of issues in the House in left-right coalitions,” Sanders said. “I think sometimes you have people working on blogs who make very, very quick decisions without fully understanding what’s in the amendment. I urge those folks who think we quote-unquote sold out to actually read what is in the amendment. I think they will find out that we did not sell out.”
Thursday night, Sanders told POLITICO that the compromise included “very minor modifications” to the original language. The senator clarified what those changes were and conceded it was “a political judgment” he made in order to move forward with the legislation.
The primary changes include more explicit language on the purview of the one-time audit—setting a firm time window for the review, from Dec. 1, 2007 to the day the legislation is signed into law, if if passes. Additionally, the new amendment was narrowed in scope so that the GAO, which will conduct the audit, is not allowed to look into the discount window or interest rates.
This second change was perhaps the most crucial, as a chief concern of the White House, the Treasury and the Fed was that Congress under the original Sanders amendment would be able to meddle in monetary policy decisions—a view the senator contests but acknowledges played into the compromise.
Fulfilling one of their most prominent campaign promises, House Republican leaders have unveiled a new rule to require that each bill filed in the House “cite its specific constitutional authority.”
And for those who may have skipped that constitutional law class, Republicans have organized four staff briefings prior to the Jan. 5 start of the 112th Congress to provide guidance on compliance with the new rule. The first session will be Monday at 1 p.m. in the Capitol Visitor Center.
GOP leaders have prepared a memo for all members of the new Congress and senior staff informing them that no bill may be introduced unless the sponsor has submitted for the Congressional Record a statement “citing as specifically as practicable the power or powers granted to Congress” to enact the measure. The memo included five examples of forms that sponsors could include with their legislation.
Holder Warns of Threats Within, ‘Radical’ Citizens
Attorney General Eric Holder has an urgent message for Americans: While he is confident that the United States will continue to thwart attacks, “the terrorists only have to be successful once.”
And while it is not certain we will be hit, the American people, he told ABC News, “have to be prepared for potentially bad news.”
“What I am trying to do in this interview is to make people aware of the fact that the threat is real, the threat is different, the threat is constant,” he said.
“It is one of the things that keeps me up at night,” Holder said. “You didn’t worry about this even two years ago — about individuals, about Americans, to the extent that we now do. And — that is of — of great concern.”
“The threat has changed from simply worrying about foreigners coming here, to worrying about people in the United States, American citizens — raised here, born here, and who for whatever reason, have decided that they are going to become radicalized and take up arms against the nation in which they were born,” he said.
Salon Publishes Call for Torture, Murder of Sarah Palin
National Socialist online political magazine Salon.com published a letter to the editor Friday that called for the murder of Sarah Palin.
The letter was written in response to a mocking article at Salon titled, Good Morning America’s painfully friendly interview with Sarah Palin by Alex Pareene.
Pareene snarkily sums up the GMA interview:
“The interview was basically split into a couple of distinct sections: How awesome is your family, how bad is Barack Obama, how awful are people who criticize you, and how awesome is America?”
The first letter published in response to the article calls for Palin to be electrocuted by a cattle prod by convicted dog abuser Michael Vick: “Vick gets a pet to torture and we get rid of Palin. A win-win for everyone!”

Congressional Democrats cannot find the votes to pass “network neutrality.” No problem. Three unelected officials will impose rules on hundreds of millions of satisfied online consumers. A federal appeals court stops the FCC from employing authority over the Internet. Again, not a problem. Three out of five FCC commissioners can carve out some temporary wiggle room, because, as any crusading technocrat knows, the most important thing is getting in the door.
It’s not that we don’t need the FCC’s meddling (or worse); it’s that we don’t need the FCC at all. Rather than expanding the powers — which always seem to grow — of this outdated bureaucracy, Congress should be finding ways to eliminate it.
Why would we want a prehistoric bureaucracy overseeing one of the past century’s great improvements? As a bottom-up, unregulated and “under-taxed” market in which technological innovation, free speech and competition thrive — at affordable prices, no less — the Internet poses a crisis of ideology, not commerce, for the FCC.
It’s about control and relevance. What else can explain the proactive rescue of the Web from capitalistic abuses that reside exclusively in the imaginations of a handful of progressive ideologues?
What is the FCC doing? It’s complicated, and in some ways, it’s irrelevant. It claims that regulatory power will ensure that consumers enjoy an “open Internet.” (With more broadband providers than ever, is there anything more open than the Internet?) But the FCC can censor speech. And once the FCC can regulate Internet service providers, those providers will be more compliant and more interested in making censors happy.
The FCC also can hand out favors that hurt competition. And as Lawrence Lessig, a professor at Harvard Law School, wrote in 2008, “economic growth requires innovation. Trouble is, Washington is practically designed to resist it. Built into the DNA of the most important agencies created to protect innovation, is an almost irresistible urge to protect the most powerful instead.”
Even as Chairman Julius Genachowski claims that he will employ a “light touch,” the FCC leaves open the possibility that it will use the Title II docket to classify broadband as a public utility — and, as you know, nothing says progress and modernization like “utility.”
The same organization that forced all consumers to buy Ma Bell-made telephones for decades, the same FCC that enforced speech codes via radio “fairness doctrines,” the same FCC that took two decades after its invention to OK cellular technology for the marketplace and acted similarly sluggishly with cable and satellite innovation has no business online. It has a history of hurting consumers, not protecting them. (Unless you need protection from fleeting expletives and the once-a-decade nipple controversy.)
It is likely that a new Congress — or perhaps the courts — will undo this regulatory power play. And though “net neutrality,” or “open Internet” (no one needs to worry; doublespeak is still flourishing), may not survive, it reminds us that the FCC’s institutional positions conflict with the vibrancy and freedom of the Internet.
Positions that are as archaic as they are detrimental.

While this may come as some sort of personal shock to those who feel that Big Brother resides in the city of London and that the “men behind the curtains” are mostly Rothschilds or “Royals”, the undeniable fact that the Wall Street captured Administration and especially the Federal Reserve are the modern day equivalent of Mayer Rothschild’s most formidable ambitions to achieve global financial domination should be fairly clear by now.
Though few could have imagined, prior to the Declaration of Independance, that Rothschild would indeed succeed in creating a global cartel of private “central banks” with the authority to control the money supply and interest rate of the currencies of sovereign nations, he most certainly did, and the most powerful of these is obviously the one that controls the supply and rate of the world’s reserve currency.
WHEN IT COMES … you will recognize the rallying cry of the GLOBALISTS as they demand that the bankrupt system be bailed out NO MATTER WHAT IT TAKES … They will call it a CONTAGION OF LOST CONFIDENCE. CONfidence that we MUST RESTORE – NO MATTER WHAT THE PRICE (of the BAILOUT).
But SOVEREIGNISTS will repudiate the GLOBAL BAILOUT as a DEATH DECREE upon the working classes of the world.
Yes, it will be a little inconvenient when the gas pumps stop taking credit cards and when power systems fail and your bank shutters … but have faith that WE THE PEOPLE can rely on ourselves, our neighbors, our friends and most importantly our STATE GOVERNMENT to issue the credit to restore systems at the basic level, STATE BY STATE.
Some Imperialist money changer might not be able to buy that chain of islands he was banking on, but I think the creature comforts we’ll all be denied for a few weeks, or even months, will come as more of a blow to the “intellectual elite and world bankers” than it will to people who work for a living.

Just remember that money today is nothing more than electronic accounting entries in a computer. Entries to extend credit. All the paper printing that the Fed is doing merely funds those entries. like those made by the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation, which clears more monetary volume in derivatives transactions in three days than the gross annual GDP of the USA. When i shuts down, thank your maker.
Then turn to your Sovereign State government to help begin rebuilding upon a real world foundation. By then the administrations credibility will be so beyond repair, it won’t be 70% of the American people who are abandoning Obama, it will be more like 97%, the same percent who are getting scrwwed by the 3% global elite they are aligned with.
The cause of immigration enforcement and numerical reductions was a huge winner in Tuesday’s elections, promising that immigration issues will finally be addressed as job issues in the next Congress.
I’m not sure there has been a Congress since 1924 — and certainly not in the last 50 years — that had a membership more interested in reductions in overall illegal and legal immigration than will be the one that was elected yesterday.
I know that these are big claims.
Many observers may have missed this dramatic shift because of the one massively publicized counter-example of amnesty-champion Sen. Harry Reid keeping his seat from immigration-enforcement advocate Sharon Angle in Nevada. Certainly, immigration was a hot issue in that race, and both candidates made it clear that they represented opposite positions. In that case, voters chose the high-immigration candidate over the low-immigration candidate, although several other major factors were involved.
Reid’s was a case of a pro-amnesty incumbent keeping his seat, and lots of them did. Nonetheless, there are a lot of examples in which pro-amnesty seats did get filled by anti-amnesty candidates. On the other hand, [h][c:red]I can’t find any example of the opposite happening — of an anti-amnesty seat being taken by a pro-amnesty candidate.[-h][-c]
To analyze the results, NumbersUSA in advance of the elections assigned every current Member of Congress and every candidate to one of three categories based on extensive review of their actions, their official stances and statements in the media. The three categories were:
MORE IMMIGRATION: Support high current levels of new foreign workers, with many favoring letting illegal aliens keep their jobs
UNCOMMITTED: Immigration positions not clear
LESS IMMIGRATION: Favor stronger enforcement to open up illegal-alien-held jobs for unemployed Americans, with many favoring reductions in legal immigration, too
Here is what voters nationwide did on Tuesday:
IN THE HOUSE
1. They wiped out a net of three dozen More-Immigration seats in the House.
2. They knocked the number of More-Immigration seats down to about 170, far below the 218 majority needed to pass legislation, seemingly eradicating any possibility of “comprehensive immigration reform” being considered in the next Congress.
3. They didn’t just go for mild enforcement types. They filled about two dozen of those current More-Immigration seats with Less-Immigration candidates who made explicit promises not only to push stringent enforcement measures but also promised to work to eliminate several categories of legal immigration.
4. The number of elected Less-Immigration candidates promising stepped-up immigration enforcement looks like it will fall just short of the 218 majority. But most of the final 50 elected candidates classified as Uncommitted appear likely to lean toward more enforcement if presented opportunities and requirements to vote on it. There is no question that a solid pro-enforcement, bi-partisan majority will exist in the new House.
IN THE SENATE
1. Five or six of the Senate’s most aggressive More-Immigration Members were replaced by Less-Immigration candidates.
2. That shift puts the More-Immigration bloc about 10 votes short of stopping a filibuster and creates a virtual 50-50 deadlock in the Senate.
Tsunami. Earthquake. Hurricane. Even as pundits struggle to find new metaphors to describe the scope of the GOP landslide expected on Tuesday, the latest polls indicate the midterm grass-roots wave could be even more powerful than analysts are predicting.
Respected political gurus Charlie Cook and Stuart Rothenberg said Monday morning that a 60-seat GOP gain in the House is possible, and a six- to eight-seat GOP gain in the Senate is likely.
“If we’re wrong, it’s higher,” Cook told the audience of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
Like a clarion warning of an impending catastrophe, a new Gallup/USA Today poll released Monday indicates that Democrats could be in for a political bloodletting of historical proportions.
The gap in the generic ballot between two parties has not been greater since the post-Watergate era, the poll reports. By a 55 percent to 40 percent margin, likely voters said they’d prefer to elect a Republican over a Democrat on Tuesday.
Neither party has enjoyed such a dominating position in the generic ballot in more than 35 years, and grass-roots activists were ecstatic about that poll result.
“We’ve known all along that the conservative anti-establishment wave would be huge,” FreedomWorks CEO Matt Kibbe tells Newsmax. “But it’s fitting that the reaction to the establishment agenda is expected to be comparable to the reaction to Watergate. The American people are ready to say that Obamacare, out of control spending and the rest of the far-left agenda are as destructive to our nation as Watergate was.”
Another ominous sign for Democrats: party leaders’ last-minute efforts to boost voter turnout. “Whenever I hear a party say that they are counting on turnout, that means big trouble,” former Bush campaign adviser Mark McKinnon tells Newsmax. “Voters are saying we wanted change, but not the change Obama had in mind.”
Longtime GOP strategist Roger Stone predicts that voters are poised to send Democrats a devastating message of discontent.
“This year’s GOP sweep shows voters want accountability, an end to wasteful spending. and tax reduction,” Stone tells Newsmax. “And they are tired of an ‘elite’ political class that perpetuates it itself but delivers nothing for the people,” Stone says.
“The shock would be if Republicans don’t do well, rather than the fact that they are going to do well,” University of South Florida political science professor Susan McManus tells Newsmax. “Rarely do you see so many polls converge in the same direction with the same magnitude that we see right now. I think that the Republican enthusiasm gap is going to prevail, and Republicans are going to do well around the country.”
In the waning hours of the campaign, many additional indications are emerging that Democrats may now face a debacle that could exceed the GOP gains seen in the conservative revolution of 1994. Among them:
An NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll shows about half of all likely voters want a GOP-led Congress. Also, Republicans have a 12-point edge in enthusiasm, 53 percent to 41 percent. “This is a devastating set of data for the incumbent party,” GOP pollster Bill McInturff told NBC News.
President Obama’s job-approval rating has dropped 2 points in the past month and now stands at 45 percent, the NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll states.
RealClearPolitics.com estimates a whopping 67-seat GOP gain in the House, based on its elaborate analysis of poll results nationwide. Its average GOP edge in the generic ballot, based on an average of 10 recent polls, stands at 8 percent.
New polls of specific races bear ominous news for Democrats. Washington Incumbent Democratic Sen. Patty Murray’s lead in the RealClearPolitics average of polls, in a race Democrats lauded as part of their “Pacific Coast firewall,” is now three-tenths of one percent over GOP challenger Dino Rossi.
Republicans Ken Buck in Colorado and Sharron Angle in Nevada appear to have established narrow but consistent leads in their respective races. Democratic incumbent Sen. Barbara Boxer’s lead over former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina in California is just 4 points, according to the latest Public Policy Polling data.
There is one caveat to all the bullish predictions of GOP dominance on Tuesday: The Cook Political Report stated on Sunday that the GOP’s chances of winning the 51 votes it needs to control the Senate are “nonexistent.” But even Cook says his projections could underestimate the force of Tuesday’s wave.
Says Stone, “Barack Obama thought the outcome of the 2008 Presidential election was a repudiation of conservatism and a voter approval of higher taxes, massive spending and deeper debt,” Stone tells Newsmax. “This year’s elections prove that this was wrong. Many voters did not understand the ‘change’ they voted for.”
But to capitalize on the strong tide of public sentiment, Republicans will have to avoid their tendency to cause self-inflicted wounds once they gain power.
“The GOP needs to be aware this election was a rejection of Obama and Democrat policies but not necessarily an affirmation of Republicans,” McKinnon says. “A lot of work needs to be done to rebuild the Republican brand.”
Alan Grayson’s recent self indulgent behavior has paralyzed his ability to serve as an advocate for the citizens of Central Florida. By asking Attorney General Eric Holder to fine and imprison Angie Langley for exercising her first amendment right to free political speech, Alan Grayson has sunk to an extremely alarming and potentially dangerous new low. It is clear that this man has no business representing the good people of Central Florida. Please join our effort and encourage others to do the same. This disgusting attempt to use the law enforcement arm of the federal government to silence his critics is proof positive that Alan Grayson is not only unfit for office, but that his behavior and approach is totally and utterly nuts.
Many say that the situation in Greece is a harbinger of what is coming to the United States. They are right. But first it will come to states like New York, California and Michigan that are stretched way beyond their means and deeply in debt.
Until now, the problems in these states have been papered over by federal aid. Essentially, Washington has relieved these states (and the local governments they fund) of their constitutional obligations to balance their budgets by giving them welfare checks in the nick of time. Obama now seeks to pass $50 billion in additional welfare to the states.
But since these federal funds are not necessarily recurring — and the jobs and obligations they fund are — they simply enlarge each year’s deficit hole and enable the states to go more deeply into the red.
As these deficits mount — particularly if a newly elected Republican House and/or Senate refuse to fund them — bondholders will get more and more nervous. Eventually, they will realize that the less solvent states are bankrupt and will refuse to buy their debt. Eyes in Sacramento, Lansing and Albany will turn helplessly to Washington to guarantee their debt, just as Athens turns to Berlin.

Republicans, if they control either or both Houses, should stand firm and insist that these states sink or swim on their own. America’s taxpayers will not take kindly to having to bail out other states — or even their own — to pay for years of reckless spending. Americans will swarm to the GOP and will hail its stand.
The time is long past when a local newspaper can generate sympathy — even from its own readers and the state’s own citizens — with a headline like “Ford to New York: Drop Dead.” Now people in other states (and even in the affected state) would stand up and cheer should the Republicans take so strong a position.
There is currently no legal procedure for a state government to go bankrupt. Congress, especially if it is Republican in 2011, should pass a mechanism that permits states to discharge in bankruptcy their collective bargaining agreements and contracts with municipal unions. Of course, this procedure would have to let school boards and local governments do likewise.
Obama will veto this bill and a stalemate will ensue.
On the left will stand Obama, the unions and the Democrats demanding bailouts for the states and, truly, an end to our federal system of government. Once Washington guarantees state debt and spending, there will be no more state governance, only national rule.
On the right will stand a Republican Congress refusing to do so unless the states declare bankruptcy and cleanse themselves of the union agreements that got them into trouble in the first place. The GOP will point out that state funding is leaking as surely as the Deepwater Horizon oil well and polluting our nation’s balance sheet as badly in the process.
The money will run out. States, school boards and localities will stop sending out checks. Emergency state funding may keep schools open, prisons locked and police and fire services running, but otherwise all hell will break loose.
Something will give in this national game of chicken. If it is the states and Obama that blink first, we will free our local governments of the grip of municipal unions, their rigid work rules and their unaffordable pensions. If the Republicans blink first, they will forfeit their right to represent the American people, having backed down from the challenge of our times.
This Armageddon looms in 2011, presenting us with either an opportunity to reform our government in fundamental ways or to set in stone our path to an Athens-esque meltdown.
When you look at the stage during a 2007 Democratic Presidential debate… among the “hip” younger candidates and eccentric weirdoes… there’s a seemingly-stodgy white-haired man. We rarely remember what he had to say. We just remember the kind-of-boring guy. The “fuddy-duddy”, or to coin a phrase… the “fuddy-DODDy“.
This is NOT the real Chris Dodd. Beneath that family-friendly white hair is the mind of a playboy, filled with drunken memories of romantic conquests.
GQ Magazine reported on Chris Dodd the player in 1990. An article by Michael Kelly recalled Dodd doing a “Mexican hat dance” at a French Restaurant near his office. He was drinking with fellow Democrat Ted Kennedy. According to the article, Kennedy saw a framed picture of Chris Dodd on the wall. He shouted, “Who’s that guy?” and then ripped the picture off the wall and smashed it to the ground. Laughing, Dodd located a picture of Kennedy and danced on it.
The article doesn’t reveal whether or not the two men picked up hot women that evening. But there’s a good chance they did. According to the Hartford Courant, Dodd and Kennedy held the reputation in Washington as the “Playboys of the Western World.”
Dodd has scored some fine women in his time. Take for instance, Bianca Jagger, former wife of The Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger. In today’s world, dating the jet-seting, party-going Jagger would be akin to having sex with an older Paris Hilton.
And it gets better…
In 1977, young boys the world over began to drool over a cute young space princess named Princess Leia. In 1983, those boys had become men. The third film in the Star Wars trilogy was just released and the cover of Rolling Stone magazine featured an older, sexier Princess Leia in a golden space bikini. The closest most men could get to the beautiful princess was a few magic moments with that magazine cover. But not Chris Dodd… he dated Princess Leia. The New York Times described Dodd’s relationship with actress Carrie Fisher as a “courtship”.
Of the relationship now, Dodd will only say “A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.” (The Kansas City Star June 22, 2007)

Americans aren’t stupid. We could look in the televised eyes of our last two Presidents and see that they were scoundrels. We like scoundrels. It takes time management skills to be a success and still find time to get into trouble.
But Chris Dodd isn’t showing us the “interesting Chris Dodd”. He’s backwards fronting. Why?
I have a theory. Stay with me. Carrie Fisher was once married to singer Paul Simon (1983-1984). She then married CAA agent Bryan Lourd. That relationship ended when Lourd left Fisher for a man. Now it’s 2007 and Chris Dodd, Fisher’s former love interest, is carrying on with Fisher’s first husband, Paul Simon. According to WMUR Channel 9 in New Hampshire, Dodd is teaming up with the singer for a bus tour through Iowa. And there’s more to the Simon/Dodd affair. On March 23, 2007, Paul Simon donated $2,300 to Chris Dodd For President Inc..
Now, I’m not saying that Chis Dodd is gay. I’m just saying he has yet to provide a position on the importance of breakfast.
Presidential candidate Mr Breakfast will continue to point out the foibles and goofs of all the candidates (regardless of party) until they reveal a position on the importance of breakfast.
Remember, Congressional leaders have already created exemptions to this law for large groups like the NRA and AARP. This serves to show who this law is really aimed at. YOU!

It isn’t big, powerful, organizations that you politicians fear, it’s ME, the humble voter and taxpayer, because that’s whom the DISCLOSE Act is really aimed at.
I don’t mind the NRA and AARP being exempted, I just want everyone else exempted too. And that neatly explains why you shouldn’t pass any version of this bill.
The word disclose in the DISCLOSE Act is a silly acronym that stands for “Democracy Is Strengthened by Casting Light On Spending in Elections.” We couldn’t disagree more. The provisions of this bill (H.R. 5175 and S. 3295) would actually . . .
Protect incumbents from competition by other candidates, and from criticism by citizens’ groups.
Violate your First Amendment rights to free speech, free press, and assembly.
Harm your First Amendment right to petition Congress for a redress of grievances.
Crush your Ninth Amendment right to associate with others for peaceful purposes, such as defeating incumbent office holders and electing new representatives.
Incumbent politicians support campaign finance laws, like the DISCLOSE Act, because these laws kill your ability to fire and replace them. Media companies also love these laws because they cripple your ability to be your own media, by joining with others to fund political advertising campaigns.
Unlike you, and the political organizations you support, media companies enjoy completely unrestricted freedoms of speech, press, and association. They can raise and spend unlimited amounts . . .

While completely ignoring or ridiculing those candidates who don’t support the Establishment Ideology of Crony Capitalism and Welfare-Warfare Statism
Specifically, the DISCLOSE Act would harm an organization like DownsizeDC.org, Inc. in the following ways . . .
If we spend more than $10,000 on political communications during a calendar year we would have to report to the government, and to the general public, ALL donors who have given between $600 or $1,000, depending on the type of political communications we wanted to express. This may sound trivial, but it’s actually ominous . . .
Instead of simply exercising our rights to free expression we would have to start thinking about whether or not something we wanted to say would trigger the requirements of this law.
We would also have to start spending money that our donors gave for one purpose, such as educating the public, to comply with this law.
These reporting requirements will also have a chilling effect on donations. Those who fear potential retaliation from Congress, or who simply value their privacy, may decide to cease making donations.
And that’s exactly what the DISCLOSE proponents want — they want to reduce political expression by groups that represent your anti-Statist ideals. They want to silence DC Downsizers and other groups that oppose the imposition of new laws.
This danger is especially severe with larger donors who may have business interests that could be harmed by incumbent politicians. Business leaders know that politicians routinely use their power to reward friends and punish enemies. That’s why the DISCLOSE Act also requires that . . .
Both the head of an organization, AND the top contributor to any broadcast ad, must both include recorded statements that they approve the message. Television ads and political mailings, must also list the top five contributors to the organization.
Once again, this will have a chilling effect on contributions, and once again, this is what incumbent politicians want, because it will reduce the amount of criticism and competition directed at them.
This requirement will also create administrative headaches. Fundraising materials will have to contain disclosure requirements, and database software will have to be re-programmed to account for these requirements.
The cost of making ads will also increase, because top donors will have to go record their endorsement.
The broadcast time required to say “this message was funded by . . . and I approve this message” will also eat into the educational portion of every ad. According to eight former members of the Federal Election Commission, writing in the Wall Street Journal . . .
In many 30-second ads, DISCLOSE would require no fewer than six statements as to who is paying for the ad (the current law already requires one such statement). These disclaimers would take up as much as half of every ad.
The DISCLOSE Act will also prohibit communications that could be interpreted as advocating a candidate’s election or defeat, even if the communication doesn’t specifically use those words. This is potentially the most dangerous provision of this legislation given that it is COMPLETELY SUBJECTIVE. No one will be able to know for sure if they are violating this law when they prepare an ad or other communication, so it will be safer to simply remain silent. Or, they could choose to divert even more of their donor’s money hiring lawyers before making each and every move.
Following nearly a year of fiery public rhetoric and questionable political backroom arm-twisting, Congress finally cast an historic vote to enact a sweeping health care reform bill into law.
A law that is blatantly unconstitutional and contrary to the ideas of liberty.
Nowhere does the Constitution authorize the federal government to dictate a national health care policy or force Americans to purchase a particular good or service.
America was founded on the premise that the individual knows how to take care of himself and his family in a manner better than any government not only is, but ever will be, capable of planning for him.
The drafters of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution rejected the very same principles that today’s leaders are now embracing as “change” and “progress.”
Allowing elected officials to dictate to us “for our own good” isn’t a new idea. You can find its devastating results strewn all over history, particularly the history of the 20th century.
But despite the manifest failures of statism, the notion that citizens have a responsibility over their own lives — that they have the liberty to decide how they will conduct and protect those lives — continues to slip slowly away.
No good doctor would treat a junkie’s withdrawal by not only supplying him with, but then forcing him to use, the same drug that caused his addiction. Yet, throwing more government regulation on top of existing rules is regularly considered good politics and “revolutionary.”
Making choices about medical care is an intensely private matter and part of exercising personal liberty. Government interference in healthcare has already caused costs to skyrocket and infringed on people’s choices. But rather than get out of the way, Washington is entrenching itself and its corporatist cronies even more deeply.
The legislation that passed Congress is a corporate giveaway to the insurance industry, rewarding them with millions of new customers who, by congressional decree, face federal penalties if they do not buy their product.
As Washington Examiner columnist Tim Carney reported in March:
“Given this Big Pharma clout, it’s unsurprising that the bill Obama’s whipping for — Senate bill — has nearly everything the drug companies wanted: prohibiting reimportation of drugs, preserving Medicare’s overpayment for drugs, lengthy exclusivity for biotech drugs, a mandate that states subsidize drugs under Medicaid, hundreds of billions in subsidies for drugs, and more.
PhRMA chief Billy Tauzin, who was vilified by Obama on the campaign trail, worked out much of this sweetheart deal in a West Wing meeting with White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel. Tauzin visited the White House at least 11 times. He left his imprint so deeply on the current bill that it should probably be called BillyCare rather than ObamaCare.”
The most unscrupulous businessman could not have created a law so insidious.
In response to the legislation, a number of states have already filed legal challenges, asserting their rights under the Tenth Amendment and ready to take their cases to the Supreme Court. Some, such as Virginia, have gone a step further by actively “nullifying” the federal insurance mandate within their borders.
Recently, Congressman Ron Paul introduced a very important piece of legislation that will hopefully gain as much or more support as his bill to audit the Federal Reserve. H.R. 4995, the End the Mandate Act, will repeal the health insurance reform bill’s individual and employer mandate.
In less than a month since its introduction, H.R. 4995 already has fifteen cosponsors, and Campaign for Liberty is working to alert millions of Americans to this crucial legislation.
While countries around the world struggle with the debt brought on by their ever-increasing welfare states, our nation has the opportunity to lead by example and show that the solutions lie in freedom, not force.
It is time for us to fight back for individual liberty and personal responsibility. It is time to End the Mandate.

A Council on American-Islamic Relations adviser and regular speaker at its events has suggested Islamic law permits Muslims to attack C-130 military transport planes carrying the 82nd Airborne out of Fort Bragg, N.C., according to a stunning new book exposing Washington-based CAIR’s inner workings.
Radical Islamic cleric Zaid Shakir, a frequent guest speaker at CAIR events, tells his Muslim audiences: “Jihad is physically fighting the enemies of Islam to protect and advance the religion of Islam. This is jihad.”
Acceptable targets of jihad, he says, include U.S. military aircraft.
“Islam doesn’t permit us to hijack airplanes filled with civilian people,” Shakir once told a Muslim audience. However, “If you hijack an airplane filled with the 82nd Airborne, that’s something else.”
The 82nd Airborne Division’s elite paratroopers fly out of Fort Bragg, N.C., which is part of North Carolina state Sen. Larry Shaw’s district. Shaw is CAIR’s new chairman.
The bombshell revelation comes in the wake of the worst military massacre at a domestic U.S. military base in American history, and the worst Islamic terrorist attack on U.S. soil since 9/11.
Last week, Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan allegedly gunned down in cold blood more than 50 of his fellow soldiers preparing to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan from Fort Hood, Texas. Eyewitnesses say before opening fire, Hasan jumped up on a desk and screamed, “Allahu akbar!” like the 9/11 hijackers. The suspect fatally shot 13, including a security guard. The death toll is actually 14 when a slain unborn child is counted.
Imam Shakir also gives his blessing to the use of bombs as a weapon of jihad, as long as the explosives hit “select” targets and are not indiscriminate in their destruction. Civilians can be a legitimate target, he says, if “there’s a benefit in that,” according to “Muslim Mafia,” co-authored by former federal agent P. David Gaubatz and investigative journalist Paul Sperry, author of “Infiltration.”
Even “old elderly men” and “women who are conscripted” – including Israeli and American women in uniform – are eligible enemy combatants in jihad. “This isShariah,” Shakir asserts in a CD recording of one of his lectures in 2001, which the authors obtained from a radical mosque bookstore in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Shakir, a black convert, has been portrayed as a moderate in the mainstream media, including the New York Times, which recently ran a positive profile of him. His pro-jihad statements revealed in “Muslim Mafia” have not been previously reported. CAIR has sued and obtained a temporary restraining order to censor the book’s documentary evidence detailing CAIR’s support of terrorism and obstruction of FBI investigations.
Longtime CAIR advisory board member and chief fundraiser Siraj Wahhaj echoes his friend Shakir’s interpretation of jihad.
“If we go to war, brothers and sisters – and one day we will, believe me – that’s why you’re commanded [to fight in] jihad,” the imam has told his flock in Brooklyn. “When Allah demands us to fight, we’re not stopping and nobody’s stopping us.”

CAIR has invited Shakir back to speak at its events even after the FBI questioned him about a copy of one of his incendiary pamphlets found in the apartment of a suspect in the first World Trade Center bombing. The pro-jihad pamphlet lauded the “armed struggle” that brought about the rule of the Taliban in Afghanistan, where U.S. troops are dying in record numbers from Taliban and al-Qaida ambushes.
Shakir, who recently confided to the New York Times that he’d like to see the U.S. “become a Muslim country” ruled by Islamic law, is a regular speaker at CAIR as well as Islamic Society of North America events. (Federal prosecutors say CAIR and ISNA are fronts for the terrorist group Hamas and its parent the radical Muslim Brotherhood, and the sister organizations were recently listed as unindicted terrorist co-conspirators in the largest terror finance case in U.S. history.) Recently, Shakir helped host workshops and delivered keynote speeches at banquets held at CAIR chapters in Chicago, Orlando and San Diego, among others.
“Imam Zaid’s speeches are very practical and bring the best out of his listeners,” said former CAIR official Ibrahim Moiz, a close personal friend who invited Shakir to speak to Muslims in Maryland, according to “Muslim Mafia.”
The cleric has not tempered his jihadist views.
“I don’t regret anything I’ve done or said,” Shakir has insisted.
Shakir holds little, if any, respect for law enforcement, particularly the FBI, according to “Muslim Mafia.” He constantly belittles the bureau in speeches to Muslims, even warning them that the FBI frames Muslims for terrorism – terrorist acts that he contends the FBI secretly commits.
“The World Trade Center bombing of course was aided and abetted by our good friends at the FBI,” the imam has claimed, in just one of the many wild-eyed conspiracy theories he peddles.
‘State within a state’

Shakir advises the Muslim community in America to wage a cultural jihad now, and a violent jihad later – once the proper “infrastructure” is in place.
He says Muslims should respect American democracy insofar as it can be exploited to help the Brotherhood one day assume power here.
And the only thing that could stop the Islamization of America, he notes, is if its people rose up and denied the subversive movement the unbridled freedom it’s heretofore enjoyed.
However, if Americans were to do that, Muslims would then be obligated, he says, to exercise their supposedly “divine legal right” to rise up and wage violent jihad, reveals the book “Muslim Mafia.”

Alinsky begins by telling you what a radical is. He is not a reformer of the system but its would-be destroyer. For now, he said, following the radical Muslim Brotherhood playbook, Muslims must continue to “create a state within a state.”
