Whether it were the fruit of ignorance or other folly, the 1999 repeal of the 1933 Glass-Steagall law by Bill Clinton, has had an effect comparable to that which might have been brought about through an explicit act of treason against our United States. Among nations other than our own, their lack of a standard of law equivalent to Glass-Steagall is, in effect, a fruit of either culpable malice or of a folly of ignorance. In the case of our own nation, the principle expressed as the 1933 Glass-Steagall law, had been a return to the argument which prompted the crafting of our Federal Constitution.

Who Is Judge Carter?

Judge orders trial on eligibility issue!

Arguments planned Jan. 11, 2010 for major Obama challenge.

Judge Carter is a graduate of both UCLA and the UCLA School of Law, and a highly experienced and respected jurist. Judge Carter has a background as a criminal prosecutor and as a professor at several institutions, including the University of California at Irvine, where he has received the school’s Distinguished Professor Award three times.

He also lectures frequently at judicial conferences worldwide, and at the California Judges College, the Judicial Criminal Law Institute, and the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference.

In addition to his excellent legal background, Judge Carter is a war hero. He served as a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps, with combat duty in the Vietnam War, where he fought in the Battle of Khe Sanh in early 1968 when the Marine Khe Sanh Combat Base (KSCB) was under siege for 77 days.

When the hearing ended, the plaintiffs and their attorneys felt confident that there would be no dismissal of this case on the technicality of “standing” (as had occurred in several other prominent eligibility cases), and that it would finally be heard on its merits by Judge Carter. Further, the plaintiffs felt that those merits would be very strong, probably even conclusive, once the fruits of the discovery phase of the trial became available.

Then, in early October, word came out that something very strange had happened. Judge Carter had hired a new law clerk, but not just any law clerk.

Judge Carter could have hired a law clerk from among the recent graduates of any one of a number of fine law schools (including his alma mater, the UCLA School of Law) or from any one of hundreds of elite law firms in California and across the country.

Instead he hired Siddharth Velamoor, from the Seattle law firm of Perkins Coie, the firm which represented the presidential campaign of Barack Obama and the firm where Obama’s White House Counsel Robert Bauer was formerly a partner.

Husband To Anita Dunn & Council For Obama’s $2.8 Million COLB Legal Fees: Robert Bauer Resigns From Obama Administration!

Bauer is married to Anita Dunn, former White House Director of Communications, who is infamous for her publicly-expressed deep admiration for the political philosophy of Mao Zedong, the greatest mass murderer in the history of mankind according to author and former Red Guard Jung Chang  in her masterpiece biography of Mao entitled Mao: The Unknown Story.

Anita Dunn resigned her position as White House Communications Director for Obama when video surfaced which exposed her as being in favor of the communist philosophy of Chinese dictator and mass murderer, Mao Tse Tung. Dunn admitted her communist inclinations in a speech to a group of high school students. Mao Zedong’s regime (1949-1975) killed 70,000,000.

Chuck Grassley of Iowa – United States Senator

Iowans have entrusted Chuck Grassley to voice the concerns they share around their kitchen tables at the policymaking tables in the nation’s capital.

Grassley uses his study of public policy and good standing on Capitol Hill as an honest broker to shape policy decisions that will improve the quality of life and the potential for prosperity to benefit Iowa families and communities for generations to come.   He has developed a reputation for fiscal responsibility, government accountability, and constituent services.

Grassley is a leader when it comes to shedding light on the federal bureaucracy and bringing transparency to the people’s business.  His whistleblower laws have become the federal government’s #1 anti-fraud tool and returned $22 billion to the Treasury that would otherwise have been lost to fraud.

Grassley’s key committee assignments in the U.S. Senate keep Iowa’s interests well represented on Capitol Hill. From winning more equitable Medicare reimbursements to growing Iowa’s renewable energy industry and obtaining federal help for natural disasters, Grassley’s expertise and leadership positions will become even more valuable to Iowa taxpayers, farmers, senior citizens, veterans and small business owners in the years ahead.  Just consider Iowa’s growing wind energy industry.  In 1992, Grassley won the first-ever federal tax incentive that helped launch a new era of domestic wind energy production.  Today, wind energy manufacturers employ 2,300 Iowans.

Grassley’s time-tested blend of pragmatism and integrity gives this Iowa senator a license to simply tell it like it is.  He brings a refreshing, no-nonsense style that displaces Washington nonsense with Midwestern substance and good governance.  Grassley’s work ethic is highlighted by his efforts to make sure representative government is working for Iowans.  From holding meetings every year in every one of Iowa’s 99 counties to using the latest of technology on social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, Grassley knows how to keep in touch with constituents.  On Capitol Hill, he maintains the longest consecutive voting streak among those serving today in the U.S. Senate.

Senator Grassley is a member of the following Senate committees:

Committee on the Judiciary. Senator Grassley has been on this committee every year that he’s served in the Senate and today has a leadership position as the committee’s Ranking Member. The Committee on the Judiciary is one of the Senate’s original standing committees and has a broad and influential jurisdiction, including crime, antitrust, bankruptcy, intellectual property, the federal courts and judges, civil liberties, constitutional law and amendments, and immigration.

Committee on Finance. Senator Grassley served as either Ranking Member or Chairman of this committee from 2001 through 2010, and he remains a senior member. Senator Grassley calls this committee the quality of life committee because of the committee’s jurisdiction, which includes all tax matters, health care, Social Security; Medicare, Medicaid, social services, unemployment compensation, tariffs and international trade. Legislation acted on by the Committee on Finance raises virtually all federal revenue, and expenditures authorized by this committee represent as much as two-thirds of the federal budget.

Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry. Both on and off the Senate Agriculture Committee, Senator Grassley is an outspoken and effective voice for American agriculture.  Senator Grassley farms corn and soybeans 50-50 with his son in Butler County, Iowa, and works to stay in close touch with the realities facing producers of farm commodities, including livestock.  The Agriculture Committee is responsible for federal farm program policy, nutrition programs and forestry matters, as well as oversight of the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Committee on the Budget. Senator Grassley is a senior member of this committee, which is responsible for drafting an annual budget plan for Congress. The budget resolution prepared by the Budget Committee sets out a broad blueprint for Congress with respect to the total levels of revenues and spending for the federal government as a whole. Other committees in the Senate and House of Representatives prepare the legislation that establishes specific tax and spending policies.

Joint Committee on Taxation. Senator Grassley is a member of this committee because of his seniority on the Committee on Finance. Members include five senators who serve on the Finance Committee and five members of the House of Representatives who serve on the Committee on Ways and Means. The Joint Committee reports on the effects of taxes and the administration of taxes.
