Did you know that the police have absolutely no legal duty to protect you or any other American citizen?

You can sue the police for failing to protect you, but, because of legal doctrines like “sovereign immunity”, you will most likely lose. In JPFO’s book “Dial 911 and Die” (written by an attorney) it is explained in careful detail how Americans, unbeknownst to the vast majority, are actually saddled with their own self defense.

It’s not just that the police cannot protect you. They don’t even have to come when you call! In most states the government and police owe no legal duty to protect individual citizens from criminal attack. The District of Columbia’s highest court declared plainly:

“(the)fundamental principle that a government and its agents are under no general duty to provide public services, such as police protection, to any particular individual citizen.”
Warren v. District of Columbia, 444 A.2d 1, 4 (D.C. 1981)

And this eye-opener from the U.S. Supreme Court:

“The [Due Process of the 14th Amendment] Clause is phrased as a limitation on the State’s power to act, not as a guarantee of certain minimal levels of safety and security; while it forbids the State itself to deprive individuals of life, liberty, and property without due process of law, its language cannot fairly be read to impose an affirmative obligation on the State to ensure that those interests do not come to harm through other means.” DeShaney v. After a Glock-wielding gunman killed six people at a Tucson shopping center on Jan. 8, Greg Wolff, the owner of two Arizona gun shops, told his manager to get ready for a stampede of new customers.

Wolff was right. Instead of hurting sales, the $499 semi-automatic pistols — popular with Police, Sport Shooters and Militias– flying out the doors of his Glockmeister stores in Mesa and Phoenix.

“We’re at double our volume over what we usually do.

The result is that the weapon’s effectiveness has also fired up sales of handguns in Arizona and other states, according to federal law enforcement data.

Arizona gun dealers say that among the biggest sellers over the past two days is the Glock 19 made by privately held Glock GmbH, based in Deutsch-Wagram, Austria.

Sales Jump

One-day sales of handguns in Arizona jumped 60 percent to 263 on Jan. 10 compared with 164 the corresponding Monday a year ago, the second-biggest increase of any state in the country, according to Federal Bureau of Investigation data.

Handgun sales rose 65 percent to 395 in Ohio; 16 percent to 672 in California; 38 percent to 348 in Illinois; and 33 percent to 206 in New York, the FBI data show. Sales increased nationally about 5 percent, to 7,906 guns.

“Whenever there is a huge event, especially when it’s close to home, people do tend to run out and buy something to protect their family,” said Don Gallardo, a manager at Arizona Shooter’s World in Phoenix, who said that the number of people signing up for the store’s concealed weapons class doubled over the weekend. Gallardo said he expects handgun sales to climb steadily throughout the week.

“It’s in the news now. I’m sure the Green Bay Packers are selling all kinds of jerseys today as well,” he said. “I just think our state embraces guns.”

Arizona law allows anyone to carry a gun in public if it’s in full view, making it what’s known as an open-carry state. Until recently, gun store owners say, it was common to see people carrying weapons in grocery stores or coffee shops. That’s less true today, because last year that state passed a law allowing individuals to carry a concealed weapon without a permit.
