The Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed an ISIS terrorist group convoy that was heading towards Syrian Deir ez-Zor, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement on Monday.
The ministry also pointed out that Russia’s Aerospace forces had destroyed more than 200 ISIS militants and over 20 vehicles carrying large-caliber weapons, as well as armored vehicles, including tanks.
“The aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces destroyed yet another large convoy of IS [ISIS] terrorists, which was heading towards Deir ez-Zor, where [U.S. Israeli] international terrorists are trying to regroup and equip their last foothold in Syria,” the ministry’s statement read.
“The destruction of IS [ISIS] in the area of Deir ez-Zor will become the strategic defeat of the [ISIS mercenaries] international terrorist group in the Syrian Arab Republic,” the statement said.
Recently the government troops liberated the town of As-Sukhnah in the Syrian province of Homs, which was considered to be the “key to Deir ez-Zor” currently besieged by the [U.S. Israeli mercs] terrorist group.
The Syrian government forces’ victory in As-Sukhnah is a huge success for Damascus.
The town is located in the Syrian desert. The [ISIS] terrorists gained control over it in 2015 making it an important communication center for the terrorists in areas they [had] control [ed] in the provinces of Hama and Homs, as well as the cities of Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor.
