{State Of} Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says the Tel Aviv regime feels threatened by Iran’s growing influence in Syria and other parts of the Middle East.
“Iran is already well on its way to controlling Iraq, Yemen and to a large extent is already in practice in control of Lebanon,” Netanyahu told Russian President Vladimir Putin as they met in Russia’s Black Sea resort of Sochi on Wednesday.

The visiting PM, who was hoping for a sympathetic response from Putin, was left disappointed as the Russian head of state refused to address his claims.

But later in the day, Russian Ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzya dismissed the Israeli prime minister’s claims.
“We know Israel’s position on Iran, but we believe that Iran plays a very constructive role in Syria,” the Russian envoy stated.
We have been working closely with Iran to bring an end to the conflict in Syria as soon as possible, Nebenzya added.

Russia and Iran have helped the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad score major victories in the years-long fight against foreign-backed terror groups in the conflict-ridden Arab country.

{ With ISIS folding, refugees returning to their homes, stability taking root over large swathes of Syria, and successful de-escalation zones holding over parts of the country, it appears that only Netanyahu (along with terror groups like ISIS) is left unhappy in the region. Yet Syria continues on its current hopeful trajectory and path to recovery. ZeroHedge }
Moscow has been running an aerial campaign against terror positions across Syria since 2015.
It has also separately pushed through with a plan alongside Iran and Turkey to set up four de-escalation zones throughout Syria, where airstrikes would be halted.
The three countries have been mediating talks between the Syrian government and opposition in the Kazakh capital of Astana since January.

Israel is critical of the efforts, fearing that they would ultimately cement Iran’s position as a powerful regional player and benefit Islamic resistance movements such as Lebanon’s Hezbollah, which is also involved in the anti-terror campaign.
That probably explains why the Israeli military has been carrying out airstrikes and shelling attacks against both Syrian government forces and Hezbollah fighters, while providing shelter and medical assistance to terrorists on the Syrian border.

Terrorism In Middle East Part Of Israel’s Agenda: Iranian President

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has described the terrorist operations across the Middle East as part of Israel’s agenda, warning that anti-terror campaigns in the region should not divert attentions from the Palestinian crisis.
Rouhani made the remarks at a Tuesday meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi, who is visiting Tehran at the head of a high-ranking delegation.
“Fighting against terrorism should not overshadow the issue of al-Quds and the threat of the Zionist regime (Israel) in the region,” he pointed out.

“To me, there are no limitations to decentralization.
Elsewhere, Iranian President Rouhani congratulated the Iraqi government and nation over the liberation of Mosul from the hands of {U.S. Israeli ISIS} Daesh Takfiri terrorists and said, “The liberation of Mosul is a symbol for putting an end to terrorism and it is a victory celebration for Iran, Iraq, Syria and all the regional countries fighting the grave issue of terrorism.”
The president underlined the importance of safeguarding the territorial integrity of all regional countries and denounced any measure aimed at undermining the unity and sovereignty of Iraq as “unacceptable.”
The Iranian chief executive also called for the expansion of Iran-Iraq ties in all areas.
Prime Minister Abadi, for his part, called for the promotion of Tehran-Baghdad relations in all spheres, particularly in fighting terrorism.

He noted that Daesh {ISIS} terrorists know no boundaries and urged all the countries to cooperate in fighting against such a common threat.
Abadi’s one-day visit to Iran came after his visit to Saudi Arabia. The Iraqi premier will then visit Kuwait on the third leg of his regional tour.
The visit comes as Iraqi government forces continue more territorial gains in the militant-held Old City of Mosul as they continue their operations to push Daesh {ISIS} terrorists out of their last urban stronghold in the Arab country.
